Notes:
The 12" inner sheet is slightly different to the initial copies, containing a record review, liner notes, credits and lyrics. In addition on the front of the inner sheet the "6" of "621984" was crossed out and a hand written "5" was added ("521984"). This (supposedly) refers to the number of years until 1984, '6' when the first insert was produced and '5' by the time the second appeared. The sleeve, the labels and the matrices are virtually identical between initial presses and it is unclear whether they were made at the same or different times. Both initial presses feature a blank, white spine, and a back cover that is printed upside-down relative to the front cover. Both have plain white inner sleeves with rounded corners reading "uk patent no. 1,125,555." Inner Sheet: eve libertine / voice on asylum all material ©℗Ⓐ CRASS.1978. recorded live at southern studios ink.london.29/10/78. special thanks to john of southern studios, to larry williams, and to pete, mari and alan of small wonder. Labels: Small Wonder Music Ltd. ©℗Ⓐ 1978 External Information: A1 was meant to be the track 'Asylum', vocals credited to [a288823 on the inner sheet, but no company would press the record with this track. It was replaced with silence. The lyrics for this track on the insert are covered with a black bar with an explanation: THE SOUND OF FREE SPEECH Once again, the violent majority assert their bigoted reality through the silencing of others. ASYLUM, an antichrist/feminist statement, read by Eve Libertine, has been erased because of the refusal by any company to press the record if it was left intact. With the first 5000 pressings we decided to forward cassette copies to people requesting them. Since then we have decided to try to get ASYLUM pressed ourselves plus SHAVED WOMEN, both with Eve Libertine on vocals. We will master it as soon and as cheaply as possible, hopefully almost cost price. Sorry it's all such a fuck up. CRASS The censored track was released as a 7" on [l13168 in 1979 as 257983 and appears on The Second Sitting reissues of this EP as well. Durations do not appear on this release. Runouts are etched.
